MAHA 2010 set to be Prime Agricultural Event

MAHA 2010 expected to attract 1.5 million visitors and re-branded the agriculture sector as a promising business avenue.


More than 1.5 million local and foreign visitors are expected at the Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture and Agrotourism International Show (MAHA) 2010 starting today.
Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry Minister Datuk Seri Noh Omar said the 10-day event had attracted 28 countries to join.
“In order to place MAHA 2010 as the prime agricultural event of the region, we have extended the promotion campaign to Europe, Latin America, Asia and Australia.”
“Sales are expected to grow 56.3% to RM15mil from RM9.6mil in MAHA 2008,” he said after the soft launch here.

MAHA 2010 had place as the prime thus gaining its deserved place and recognition with other international agro shows.
Agriculture is a priority in all countries and Malaysia places paramount importance on food production and agro-based technologies to cope up with ever-demanding local and global needs.
Noh said the expo was set to position Malaysia as a centre of excellence in the development of the agriculture and agro-based industry in order to attract private and foreign investments.
“MAHA 2010, themed ‘Agricultural Inno­vation for Growth’ showcases Malaysia’s best producers, farmers, fishermen and stockmen, and provides a platform to pitch the region’s best agro-based companies.
“New innovative technologies will be highlighted with the aim of making Malaysia the preferred one-stop centre for product showcase and trading purposes,” he added.

The Asia’s largest and most comprehensive showground and exposition facility, MAHA 2010 launched the 10 days prime agriculture event at Malaysian Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS) and gained its deserved place and recognition with other international agro shows.
Owned by the Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-based Industry, MAHA conceives on the same platform on which the Ministry has successfully rebranded the agriculture sector as a promising business avenue.
The objective of this ten days event is to act as an information centre, for creating awareness on the latest innovation and new technologies to the target groups, with the aim of increasing their agriculture production, standard of living and income. Provide a platform of meetings for the sellers and the buyers, among the Agriculture and Agro-based Industry around the world. It was also use to promote agriculture as a career that could provide promising future and guaranteed lucrative, income in order to attract entrepreneurs and the young generation. But the main objective is to position Malaysia as a centre of excellence in the development of agriculture and the agro based industry in order to attract private and foreign investment.
